Prediction and odds for the game: Liverpool (1/4) vs Leicester (9/1)
We are backing Liverpool half-time/full-time at odds of 10/11
When: Thursday 10 February 2022, Kick-off 19:45
Where: Anfield
On Thursday night, Liverpool host Leicester at Anfield in the Premier League, as the home team looks to attempt to stay in touch with league leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp’s team head into this clash on the back of a four-game winning streak in all competition. Last time out the men from Merseyside recorded a comfortable 3-1 home win over Cardiff City in the FA Cup fourth round.
The Reds have scored at least two goals in all four of those recent victories, despite the absence of their two star forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Back in the Premier League, Liverpool have won their last two matches. They have also lost just once in 11 league matches. Even though their league form has been decent of late, the home team are still nine points adrift of leaders City, although they do have a game in hand on the Citizens.
Liverpool have once again turned Anfield into a fortress, having won their last five home games in the English top-flight, while scoring at least two goals in four of the wins.
The Reds could well welcome Salah and Mane back into their squad after both appeared in the African Cup of Nations final on Sunday. Colombian winger Luis Diaz could also make his bow in the English top-flight.
Leicester
The last thing that the Foxes need is a trip to Anfield at the moment. The visitors are fresh from a 4-1 mauling at Championship Nottingham Forest in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The defeat means that Leicester are now winless in three games in all competitions, having suffered two defeats in the process.
A record of winning just once in their last four games in the English top-flight is not a great one either. Their only win in that four-match run was against Liverpool when the men from the Midlands defeated the Merseysider’s 1-0 at the King Power Stadium.
The visitor’s recent underwhelming form has seen them fall to 10th place in the table, 12 points off the top four, although they do have two games in hand on fourth-place Manchester United.
A host of injuries have contributed to the Foxes recent poor form. Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana and Timothy Castagne are likely to miss out through injury once again at Anfield.
Conclusion
Liverpool are in good form of late and will be determined not to lose any more ground on City at the top of the league table. The home win offers very little value. Instead, we are backing Liverpool half-time/full-time which offers slightly more value. We also think that the home side will take advantage of the visitor’s leaky defence, so are backing the over 3.5 goals scored.
Our Tips: We are backing Liverpool half-time/full-time at odds of 5/6 and/or over 3.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
