Prediction and odds for the game: Wolves (13/5) vs Arsenal (23/20)
We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5
When: Thursday 10 February 2022, Kick-off 19:45
Where: Molineux Stadium
On Thursday night, Wolves host Arsenal at Molineux Stadium, in a big clash in the fight for the European spots in the Premier League.
Wolves
The men from the Midlands seemed to have found form until a surprise 1-0 home defeat by Norwich in the fourth round of the FA Cup last time out. The defeat ended a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions, including six wins.
Amongst that seven-match unbeaten run was a five-game unbeaten Premier League streak, that saw Bruno Lage’s team pick up four wins and a draw. The recent improvement in form has seen Wolves climb closer to the league’s top-six.
They are now just two points behind Thursday night’s opponents, who occupy sixth-place in the table. Incredibly, the home team are just six points behind fourth-place West Ham, who have now played three more games than Lage’s team.
If they are to challenge for a European spot this season, then Wolves will need to improve their home form, as they have won just one of their last four league matches on home soil.
Arsenal
The Gunners have endured a rollercoaster of a campaign. Mikel Arteta’s team heads into this clash on a low, as the north London team has failed to win any of their previous five matches in all competitions.
Only two of those winless games have been in the Premier League though in a 2-1 home defeat by champions Manchester City and a lacklustre goalless draw at home to Burnley last time out.
The visitors are still well placed to challenge for a Champions League spot this season. They head into this game in sixth-place in the table, trailing fourth-place West Ham by four points, with three games in hand on their capital rivals.
Arsenal’s recent league matches have seemingly guaranteed goals, as there have been at least two goals scored in nine of the Gunners last ten Premier League outings.
The visitors have won their last two away games in the English top-flight, 4-1 at Leeds and 5-0 at relegation-threatened Norwich. In fact, Arteta’s team has now scored at least two goals in four of their previous six away matches in the Premier League.
The Gunners have a poor recent record against Wolves, having won just one of the last six meetings with the Midlands team in all competitions.
Conclusion
Wolves are the team in the better form. However, their recent home record suggests that they are better equipped to play away from home. Arsenal have not been in great form of late either. Those two factors point us in the direction of backing the draw in this clash.
The other bet we recommend is to back under 2.5 goals. Wolves have not been the most prolific on home soil of late, but they are well organised and are unlikely to give much away defensively.
Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/7. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
