Prediction and odds for the game: Aston Villa (21/10) vs Arsenal (13/10)
We are backing the away win
When: Saturday 19 March 2022, Kick-off 12:30
Where: Villa Park
In the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday, Aston Villa host Arsenal at Villa Park, in a big game for the visitor’s hopes of Champions League football next season.
Aston Villa
This season, the Villans look to be set for a comfortable midtable finish as Steven Gerrard’s team currently sit ninth-place in the table following an inconsistent campaign.
The team from the Midlands head into this game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at top-four chasing West Ham. The loss ended a promising three-game winning run in the English top-flight for Villa. It also ended a prolific run of form in front of goal, as Villa scored at least two goals in those three recent wins.
If there is one facet of their game that needs to improve, it is their home record, ad Villa have won just one of their last five home matches in the Premier League. However, that one win came in a 4-0 mauling of Southampton in their last home game in the English top-flight.
Arsenal
The Gunners are in control of the fight for fourth-place and that last Champions League spot. However, Mikel Arteta’s team is currently just a point clear of fifth-place Manchester United and three points ahead of west ham in sixth. The biggest advantage the team from north London has is that they have two games in hand on both their rivals.
Arsenal will be looking to get back on track after a 2-0 home defeat against Liverpool last time out. The defeat ended a five-game winning streak for the visitors in the English top-flight. It also ended a potent scoring run in the English top-flight for the Gunners, as they had scored at least twice in each of their last four league outings.
Arteta’s team have been highly effective on their travels of late in the Premier League, as they have now recorded four straight away wins in the English top-flight. The visitors have also been lethal in front of goal away from home, scoring at least three goals in three of their last four away matches in the English top-flight.
There is one slight negative for Arsenal heading to Midlands in that they have lost 1-0 on their last two visits to Villa Park.
Conclusion
Both teams will be looking to bounce back after defeats last time out ended promising winning runs. We fancy Arsenal to get back to winning ways, as defeat against Liverpool at the moment is not a major disgrace. The other bet we fancy is for over 2.5 goals to be scored. Both teams have had an eye for goal of late and we believe this game will illustrate that fact.
Our Tips: We are backing the away win at odds of 13/10 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
