Prediction and odds for the game: Eintracht Frankfurt (4/1) vs Barcelona (4/6)
We are backing the away win
When: Thursday 7 April 2022, Kick-off 20:00
Where: The Deutsche Bank Park
On Thursday night, Eintracht Frankfurt hosts Barcelona at the Deutsche Bank Park in the Europa League quarter-final first leg.
Eintracht Frankfurt
After a slightly poor start to life under new head coach Oliver Glasner, Eintracht Frankfurt now seem to have found their feet this season. The Eagles head into this clash on the back of a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
However, a disappointing goalless draw with rock-bottom Greuther Furth last time out means that Frankfurt have now drawn their last three games in competitions. Their recent games have been relatively tight, with under 2.5 goals scored in their previous three games.
Eintracht have been hard to beat in the Europa League this season, as they are unbeaten in eight games in the competition. However, four of their eight unbeaten matches have finished in draws.
The Eagles have a slightly inconsistent recent home record in the Europa League, as they have won just one of their last five home matches, although they have also lost just once in the run. Once again draws have dominated with three of their last five home matches in Europe ending in draws.
Barcelona
The Catalan giant’s season has been transformed under club icon Xavi. The Blaugrana head to Germany on an unbeaten run of 21 games in 90 minutes. The visitors recorded a 1-0 win over Sevilla last time out, which was their fourth straight win in all competitions. The match also saw Xavi’s team keep their fourth clean sheet in five competitive games. At the other end of the pitch, Barcelona have scored at least two goals in seven of their last nine matches in all competitions.
Barcelona are not accustomed to the Europa League in recent years, as they have tended to play in the latter stages of the Champions League. However, the Blaugrana are unbeaten in their four games in the competition, having seen off Napoli and Galatasaray to set up this tie.
The visitors have won both their away games in the competition this season, winning 4-2 at Napoli before recording a 2-1 victory in their last European outing at Galatasaray.
Conclusion
While Eintracht Frankfurt have improved of late, Barcelona seems to be in high spirits at the moment, having built up great momentum since the arrival of Xavi as head coach. We can see the visitors recording a narrow win.
Both these teams are highly capable in attack, especially Barcelona, so we are also backing over 2.5 goals to be scored. Backing any of the attacking players on show to be an anytime goalscorer would not be a terrible bet either.
Our Tips: we are backing the away win at odds of 4/6 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at the same odds. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
