Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (10/11) vs Arsenal (18/5)
We are backing Mason Mount to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/5
When: Wednesday 20 April 2022, Kick-off 19:45
Where: Stamford Bridge
On Wednesday night, Chelsea hosts Arsenal in what could be a crucial north London derby in the fight for the top-four in the Premier League.
Chelsea
The Blues booked their place in the FA Cup final last time out by recording a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. Now Thomas Tuchel’s team will be concentrating on finishing the season strongly and securing a Champions League spot for next season as quickly as possible.
The team from south west London are currently third-place in the table, five points clear of fourth-place Tottenham and eight ahead of Manchester United in fifth place. It would be a massive surprise if the current reigning European champions did not book a place in the Champions League for next season.
Chelsea’s recent Premier League form has been strong of late, as they head into this clash on the back of six wins in their last seven matches in the English top-flight.
Surprisingly, their recent home form has been slightly inconsistent, as they have won just two of their last six league matches at Stamford Bridge. However, a shock 4-1 home defeat by Brentford in their last home match in the top-flight ended a ten-game unbeaten run on home soil in the English top-flight.
Arsenal
After looking like favourites to claim fourth spot a few weeks ago, Arsenal’s form has slumped of late. Mikel Arteta’s team heads into this game on the back of four defeats in their last five Premier League outings, including suffering three straight losses. Last time out, the Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat at Southampton.
Despite their poor recent form, Arsenal are still in sixth place and just three points behind arch-rivals Tottenham, who occupy fourth place. Arteta’s team also has a game in hand on their local rivals.
Arsenal’s recent away form has been inconsistent to say the least, as they have won five and lost five of their previous ten away games in the Premier League. However, they have lost their last two away games in the league without scoring at Crystal Palace and Southampton.
One positive for Arsenal is that they have lost just one of their last five meetings with their capital rivals in all competitions. That one loss came in the reverse fixture earlier this season though.
Conclusion
Arsenal could not be heading into this capital derby in worse form, while Chelsea seems to have regained their form in recent games. We are backing the Chelsea win, as we just feel it is a bad time for Arteta’s team to face the Blues, especially at Stamford Bridge. We also fancy Mason Mount to continue his recent scoring streak and back the England midfielder to be an anytime goalscorer.
Our Tips: We are backing the Chelsea win at odds of 10/11 and/or Mason Mount to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
