Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (21/20) vs Manchester United (13/5)
We are backing the home win
When: Saturday 23 April 2022, Kick-off 12:30
Where: The Emirates Stadium
On Saturday afternoon, Arsenal and Manchester United go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium in a potentially massive game in the fight for Champions League spots in the Premier League.
Arsenal
The Gunners recorded a much-needed 4-2 London derby win over Chelsea last time, with young forward Eddie Nketiah scoring a brace. The 22-year-old had failed to score in his previous 14 top-flight appearances for the north London outfit.
The victory ended a woeful three-game losing streak for Arsenal that jeopardised their chances of making the top-four this season. Now Mikel Arteta’s team are fifth-place in the table, only trailing fourth-place arch-rivals Tottenham courtesy of inferior goal difference.
A big factor in the Gunners recent poor run of poor form in the league has been poor defending, as they head into this clash on the back of conceding at least two goals in three of their last four league outings.
Arsenal has a poor recent home record in the Premier League, winning just three of their previous eight home games in the English top-flight, including suffering back-to-back home losses against Liverpool and Brighton.
Manchester United
The Red Devils hopes of claiming a top-four spot seem to be shrinking by the week. Ralf Rangnick’s team are only three points adrift of the league’s top-four, but they have played an extra game than both Tottenham and Arsenal. A defeat in this clash could prove fatal to their hopes of Champions League football for next season.
United head into this game on the back of a 4-0 mauling at title-chasing Liverpool. The defeat means that Rangnick’s team has won just one of their last four league matches. That victory came in a narrow 3-2 home win over bottom of the table Norwich.
A lack of clean sheets has been a major problem for United of late, as the men from Manchester have kept a clean sheet in just one of their last eight outings in the Premier League.
The visitors have struggled for away wins of late, winning just once in their last five matches on their travels in the Premier League. The aforementioned 4-0 hammering at Liverpool was their third straight away defeat after defeats at Manchester City and Everton in their two previous away games.
Conclusion
After the morale-boosting 4-2 win at Chelsea last time out, we fancy Arsenal to win this one. United have looked all over the place at times in recent weeks and have been poor on their travels of late. We also believe that this clash will be high-scoring, so we are also backing over 2.5 goals scored.
Our Tips: We are backing the home win at odds of 11/10 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
