Prediction and odds for the game: Eintracht Frankfurt (6/4) vs West Ham (19/10)
We are backing the home win
When: Thursday 5 May 2022, Kick-off 20:00
Where: Deutsche Bank Park
On Thursday night, Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham go head-to-head at the Deutsche Bank Park in the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals. The Eagles gained what could be a vital 2-1 first-leg lead in the English capital.
Eintracht Frankfurt
Oliver Glasner’s team has enjoyed a rollercoaster of a campaign. The Eagles have struggled for any consistent form in the Bundesliga. In fact, Eintracht has now failed to win any of their last six games in the German top-flight, having lost three of their last four league matches. Last time out they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.
With just two Bundesliga games left this season, Frankfurt are set for an underwhelming mid-table finish in the German top-flight.
However, their Europa League campaign has been a completely different story from their domestic form. The Eagles are now 11 games unbeaten in the competition, having eliminated Catalan giants Barcelona in the last eight of the competition.
The first leg win at the London Stadium makes Frankfurt the favourites to progress to the final of the Europa League.
West Ham
The Irons campaign seems to rest on winning the Europa League to gain entry to the Champions League next season. David Moyes’ team has struggled for form at the wrong time of the season, as they have now failed to win any of their last four matches in the English top-flight while suffering three defeats in the run. In fact, the Irons have now won just once in their last seven matches in all competitions.
In so many ways, the visitor’s season rests on overturning the 2-1 deficit from the first leg. Their European run has obviously been a distraction in recent games, which has caused their league form to suffer.
The first leg defeat ended a run of three games without a victory for the Irons in the Europa League. However, the visitors have won just one of their last six European games in regular time.
One positive for West Ham is that they have been tough to beat on their travels in the Europa League, losing just one of their previous six matches on their European travels. The Hammers have also scored at least two goals in four of their last five outings in the competition.
Conclusion
These teams were reasonably well-matched in the first leg. However, the Hammers struggled to put a defence together last time out against Arsenal and that could be the key to this encounter. We are backing Eintracht Frankfurt to record a victory in a high-scoring game.
Our Tips: We are backing Eintracht Frankfurt to record a win at odds of 6/4 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
