In Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off, Southampton hosts Manchester United at St. Mary’s Stadium, as both teams look to build on wins last time out.

Southampton

After a 4-1 opening weekend defeat at Tottenham, the Saints form has improved. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team has since picked up a 2-2 draw at Leeds and a 2-1 win at Leicester in their last Premier League game. The win over the Foxes ended an eight-game winless streak for Southampton in the English top-flight.

Manchester United

The Red Devils made a woeful start to their Premier League campaign by suffering defeats against Brighton and Brentford, conceding at least two goals in each of the losses.

However, last time out, United recorded a 2-1 home win over bitter north west rivals Liverpool. The win ended a four-game losing streak for the men from Manchester in the English top-flight. The victory was also only United’s second win in their last nine outings in the Premier League.

The Red Devils’ recent away record has been atrocious of late in the English top-flight. The visitors have lost their last seven league games on their travels, having failed to score in five of their previous six away games. At the other end of the pitch, they have also conceded at least two goals in six of their last eight matches on their travels in the Premier League.

Manchester United have been boosted by the recent arrival of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid. The 30-year-old is expected to make his United debut in this clash.

Conclusion

Neither team made a great start to the new Premier League campaign. However, both showed signs of improving fortunes in their most recent matches in the English top flight. We are backing this game to finish all square. Southampton are poor on home soil, while United struggle on their travels.

The other bet is for Jadon Sancho to be an anytime goalscorer. The young winger has not enjoyed the best of times in his short United career so far. However, he scored a good goal and looked livelier against Liverpool. That goal could be a springboard for the England international to revive his career in Manchester.
