Game postponed due to the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 on Thursday. The thoughts of everybody at Soccernews are with her majesty’s family and friends.

Prediction and odds for the game: Fulham (16/5) vs Chelsea (4/5)

We are backing the draw at odds of 14/5

When: Saturday, 10th September 2022, Kick-off 12:30

Where: Craven Cottage

In the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday, Fulham host south west London neighbours Chelsea at Craven Cottage.

Fulham

The Cottagers have made a decent start to their return to the Premier League after promotion last season. They have taken eight points from their opening six league matches, despite some tough fixtures in the only weeks of the campaign.

Marco Silva’s team heads into this clash on the back of two defeats in their last three matches. However, those two defeats were at capital rivals Tottenham and Arsenal, who have both made strong starts to their campaigns.

One major positive for Fulham so far this season has been their home form. The Cottagers are unbeaten in their three home matches in the Premier League, having picked up two wins and a draw. They have also scored at least two goals in all three of their league games at Craven Cottage.

Fulham look set to be without Manor Solomon, Antonee Robinson and Harry Wilson through injury. Layvin Kurzawa looks to be the most like option to replace Robinson.

Chelsea

This week’s big news from Chelsea is the departure of head coach Thomas Tuchel. The club’s hierarchy sacked the highly-rated German boss after the Blues’ 1-0 defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in gameweek one of the Champions League.

Reportedly Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has already held positive talks with Brighton head coach Graham Potter about the vacant role at Stamford Bridge. It seems unlikely that a new head coach will be in charge in time for this fixture.

The decision to fire Tuchel was made more understandable by Chelsea’s recent record of losing three of their last five games, despite record spending on new players during the summer.

Chelsea have won just three of their opening seven matches in all competitions, even though the Blues looked to have been handed a relatively comfortable early season schedule.

The visitors don’t have a particularly good away record dating back to last season, as they have won just two of their previous six away games in the Premier League. That includes suffering three straight away defeats in all competitions against Leeds, Southampton and, of course, Dinamo Zagreb.

Chelsea are still without the injured N’Golo Kante, while goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is a fitness doubt. New signing Dennis Zakaria could make his debut in this clash.

Conclusion

We are going to take a punt on the draw in this clash. Fulham has held their own on home soil this season. Meanwhile, it isn’t easy to know what to expect from Chelsea after the sacking of Tuchel. The other bet we are also backing is over 2.5 goals scored. Fulham has impressed in attack this season, while Chelsea’s backline has looked suspect at times.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 14/5 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
