BVB head into this game on the back of a morale-boosting 5-0 home win over Stuttgart last time out in the Bundesliga. In truth, though, Dortmund’s form this season has been inconsistent in the German top-flight and, to a lesser extent, the Champions League too.

Pep Guardiola’s team recorded another relatively comfortable victory in the Premier League at the weekend, as they saw off Brighton 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium, with former Dortmund striker Erling Haaland scoring another brace. The Norwegian international has now scored 22 goals for City since his summer switch from BVB, including five in three Champions League appearances this season.
Pep Guardiola’s team has already sealed passage to the last 16 after taking ten points from their opening four games in Group G. A draw in this clash would see the Citizens win the group, regardless of the results in gameweek six.
Unsurprisingly, Manchester City have been difficult to beat of late in the Champions League, as they have lost just once in their last ten games in European football’s elite competition. The only defeat came in the extraordinary semi-final 3-1 extra-time defeat to eventual European champions Real Madrid last season.
While the English champions are famed for their attacking football, City has conceded just one goal in the Champions League this season. The one goal came in the reverse fixture, in which the Citizens recorded a 2-1 win.
City has won the last three meetings with Dortmund, scoring two goals in each victory.
Conclusion
Dortmund will be in confident mood after the good result last time out. However, Manchester City seem to keep winning. The Citizens rested some key players against Brighton, and we can see City coming out on top.
