Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is a surprise target for Manchester United.
Mount, 24, is set to be out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of next season and failure to extend his contract will see the attacking midfielder become a free agent.
Unlikely to allow one of their most valuable players to leave for free, US billionaire owner Todd Boehly needs to find a solution – and quickly.
Understood to be wanted by Liverpool as well as Erik Ten Hag’s Man United, Mount is not short of suitors.

Liverpool’s need for at least one new midfielder is well-documented. The Reds have an aging engine in the middle of the pitch and Jurgen Klopp knows that his high-press, fast-paced philosophy cannot work without young and dynamic players.
Man United, on the other hand, have a better-looking midfield but with Scott McTominay a target for Newcastle United, it seems likely the 20-time league winners will need to bring in at least one fresh face in the summer.
Mount has scored 33 goals in 192 appearances for Chelsea since making his senior debut back in 2019.
