Chelsea’s spending under Todd Boehly shows no sign of stopping this summer, as the Blues are already lining up moves for a number of star players. However, a shock free transfer could also be plotted. Chelsea has moved to the front of the queue in a move for Barcelona ace Gavi, according to AS.
Barcelona ace Gavi available for free
It would be an audacious move by the Blues, as the talented midfielder is widely regarded as one of the brightest young stars on the planet. However, a move could yet materialize, as Barcelona may be forced to part ways with the 18-year-old due to their La Liga FFP difficulties.
Under the current rules, Gavi’s contract could expire in the summer, meaning that the Spanish giants could have no way to keep hold of their star. His current youth contract runs out at the end of the season, meaning many of top club’s around the planet will be monitoring the situation.
Whether Chelsea will be his first choice remains to be seen, especially as the club looks unlikely to qualify for next season’s Champions League. But, the contract loophole could mean that clubs such as Man United, PSG, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich may ramp up their interest in the teenager.
