Chelsea’s checkbook could be set to open once again, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano. The respected journalist has claimed that the Blues could be set to sign Kendry Paez in a $20 million transfer deal.
Any move for the midfielder must be approved by the Premier League and FA, with the 15-year-old set to move to Stamford Bridge when he turns 18 in 2025.
Chelsea win transfer race for talented Ecuadorian
Many of the biggest clubs from around Europe were in the transfer race to sign the attacking midfielder, but it appears Chelsea has won the race. Paez, born in 2007, joined the Independiente first team on January 1, 2023, and has since scored once in three appearances in the Primera Etapa.
He has also represented his nation, Ecuador, at U17 level, playing six times and registering six assists. Chelsea fans will need to wait until he is 18 before seeing him in a Blues shirt due to FA rules.
