Southampton’s position in the Premier League looks under increasing risk this season. But, they have given assurances to one of their top stars that they will be allowed to leave the club if the Saints are relegated to the second tier.
It has been reported by TalkSPORT that James Ward-Prowse would be allowed to leave St Mary’s, with a number of Premier League rivals already weighing up moves for the England international.
Southampton open door for James Ward-Prowse transfer
The report claims that Ward-Prowse is unlikely to want to stay at the club if they suffer relegation, and the Saints would be willing to let their star leave after his excellent service. The 28-year-old has been the standout player once again for the Saints this term, scoring nine goals and registering three assists across all competitions.
A number of Premier League rivals have been weighing up a move for the star, with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham among the potential suitors. Ward-Prowse is likely to favor a move to a team in European competition, as he bids to increase his chances of being named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the EUROs in 2024.
