Atletico Madrid Matt Doherty flop is set to return to the Premier League after a nightmare spell in Spain at Atletico Madrid.
According to 90min, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Sheffield United, and runaway Championship leaders Burnley are all interested in the 31-year-old Irish fullback, whose contract at the Civitas Metropolitano ends at the end of the season.
Matt Doherty set to leave Atletico Madrid
Doherty signed a six-month contract after his contract with Tottenham Hotspur was terminated by mutual consent back in January.
However, since moving to Atleti, Doherty, who impressed as a right-wing-back during his time at Wolves, most notably scoring a winner for the club in a 3-2 comeback win against Manchester City in 2019 at Molineux, has only played 12 minutes of football under Diego Simeone and it seems extremely unlikely the Irishman will be offered a new deal.
Doherty moved from Wolves to Tottenham in 2020 for a deal worth over $16.5m.
