Newcastle United will not be signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer.
The Magpies, now the world’s richest club, are already plotting a sensational summer window that could see them sign several elite players.
However, according to recent reports, including this one from Football Insider, one player the team from England’s northeast will not be pursuing is Brentford’s prolific number 17.
And that is due to the club’s need to prioritize an attacking midfielder, and with Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson scoring plenty of goals, a striker is no longer Eddie Howe’s main focus despite Brentford being willing to sell Toney if their $62m valuation is met.
As for which players the Magpies could sign at the end of the season, multiple are already being linked, but it appears Leicester City’s James Maddison is top of the club’s wishlist.
