Bayern Munich full-back Lucas Hernandez is close to signing a new contract with the club.
World Cup winner Hernandez, 27, has seen his place in the Bayern Munich squad come under serious threat due to the good form of the rapid Canadian Alfonso Davies and the January addition of on-loan defender Joao Cancelo from Manchester City.
Hernandez believes that his future remains at Bayern, however, and is set to commit his future at the club until 2027 according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Bayern Munich transfer news: Boost for Bavarians as Hernandez is set to sign until 2027
Frenchman Hernandez, who can also play as a left-sided center-back, ruptured his cruciate knee ligaments in his country’s opening World Cup group stage game against Australia which immediately ruled him out of action for the rest of the season.
It is believed Hernandez has made good progress since then however and with rival Cancelo not believed to extend his stay at Bayern past the end of the season, Hernandez has full confidence he can be a key part of the Bavarian giants’ immediate plans next season.
🚨 Lucas Hernández is set to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich in the next few days. Deal will run until June 2027.
