Liverpool may have been priced out of a move for Jude Bellingham this summer, but the Reds are still preparing a huge package in order to bring Nicolo Barella to the club, according to Sport Mediaset.
The Reds see a move for Barella as a cheaper alternative to Bellingham, with the Italian midfielder costing half the price.
However, it could still be an expensive signing for the Anfield giants, with Inter reportedly asking for a fee in the region of $80 million.
Liverpool will be desperately looking to upgrade their options in the middle of the park this summer, as they have lacked quality in midfield throughout the season. Barella certainly appears a solid option, having won Serie A with Inter, as well as the European Championships with Italy.
The 26-year-old is an excellent ball-winning midfielder and his passing ranks amongst the best in Europe. So far this season, he has played 30 times in Serie A for Inter, scoring five goals and registering six assists.
