Bayern Munich have identified Chelsea’s Kai Havertz as a long-term replacement for Thomas Muller.
The current Bundesliga champions are in the market for a new attacker as it looks increasingly likely that Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mane will leave the Allianz Arena this summer.
Despite a poor season personally for the 23-year-old German, Havertz’s versatility and fluidity, being able to come short to receive the ball in a number-10 position or playing upfront as a solo striker, still makes the young forward an attractive proposition.
Bayern Munich transfer news: Kai Havertz to make summer move to the Allianz Arena?
According to the football website 90 min, Havertz is being lined up as a long-term replacement for veteran striker Thomas Muller, who will turn 34 in September. Muller and Havertz’s playing styles can be seen to be similar, but the former’s finishing is still seen to be more reliable.
Since Havertz’s winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City, the German has only scored 15 Premier League goals in 58 appearances for Chelsea spanning over two seasons.
