AS Roma look set to bolster their midfield options this summer, as Sky Sports Italia has revealed that Jose Mourinho’s side has agreed to the free transfer of Houssem Aouar.
The reports have claimed that the French midfielder will both to Italy this summer after his current deal at Lyon comes to a close at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Roma agree free transfer for Houssem Aouar
The move looks set to be excellent business for Roma, as they have moved quickly in the race to sign Aouar. The Frenchman had been a long-term target for a number of other European clubs, with Arsenal and Newcastle also keen on snapping up the midfielder.
However, he looks set to play his soccer for Roma next term. It is a strong move by the Italian club, and it will put extra significance on their final month of the season, as they bid to confirm their spot in next season’s Champions League.
Aouar has enjoyed another excellent season in France with Lyon, as he has scored once in 14 league appearances. The 24-year-old had been capped once by France, before he turned his allegiance to Algeria in March 2023.
