Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has confirmed he wants to return to Barcelona this summer.
The 33-year-old Gabonese international told DjamLife on TikTok, “I’d like to return to Barcelona, but we will see”. The forward has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since his move from Barcelona on transfer deadline day last summer and was hauled off at halftime by interim manager Frank Lampard in last Tuesday’s pitiful 3-1 defeat at Arsenal, in which Aubameyang touched the ball only nine times, four of which were kickoffs.

It has been clear for some time that Aubameyang’s future does not lie with the Blues but this is the first time the striker has admitted he would prefer a return to his old club. The Catalan giants are believed to be open to a deal that would see the former Arsenal captain return to a club where he scored an impressive 13 goals in 23 matches in all appearances, including a brace in a famous 4-0 win against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last season, scoring at a rate of better a goal every other game.
Any potential move for the journeyman forward would depend on there being no transfer fee involved and for Aubameyang to take a significant reduction in wages as the Catalans look to improve their squad whilst also spending within their means and abiding by UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
