Man United are interested in signing Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen as speculation over David De Gea’s place in the team continues.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper has started exactly half of the Purple and White’s fixtures in Belgium’s Pro League this season, sharing the responsibility with club captain and veteran goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge in what has been a disappointing campaign.
Erik Ten Hag continues hunt for new goalkeeper this summer
Verbruggen becomes the latest name linked with a move to Old Trafford after it was reported Red Devils boss Erik Ten Hag was keen on signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana yesterday to provide competition for his stuttering Spanish number one.
According to Manchester Evening News correspondent Samuel Luckhurst Verbruggen is in the frame to be a serious contender for United’s number one spot next season, with Ten Hag already proving his faith in signings developed in his homeland of the Netherlands, having bought Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and Lisandro Martinez and Antony from Ajax last summer, as well as snapping up Dutch compatriot Wout Weghorst on-loan in January.
