German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are set to compete for the signature of Edson Alvarez this summer, according to Sport1.
The Bundesliga teams have both been alerted to the midfielder’s situation at Ajax, with the Dutch club asking for a fee in the region of $35 million to release the Mexican.
Bayern Munich and Dortmund in Alvarez transfer hunt
Both Bayern Munich and Dortmund will be in the market for new midfielders this summer. The latter will desperately be looking to improve on their options in the summer, as they appear set to lose Jude Bellingham.
Alvarez was among the Ajax players linked with a move to Man United last summer, but United opted against a move for the defensive midfielder. It also appears unlikely that the Red Devils will renew their interest this summer.
Alvarez has enjoyed another fine season in the Dutch capital, as he has scored three goals and registered three assists in 29 league outings. However, he could be set to explore a new challenge with Ajax set for a season without Champions League soccer.
