Arsenal achieved great success in doing summer business with Man City last year, and they could be set to return this year as Mikel Arteta has his sights set on a move for Joao Cancelo, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Gunners managed to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus from City last term, but they are aware that the reigning champions may be reluctant to do business with them once again this summer.
Arsenal plot Cancelo transfer move
The Gunners appear willing to throw Cancelo a lifeline this summer, as his career at the Etihad appears to be at crossroads. He was sent out on loan to Bayern Munich in January, but the Bundesliga champions haven’t been impressed enough to trigger his $65 million clause.
That means that the full-back will return to City at the end of the season, and they will be listening to offers for the Portuguese international. However, given the close battle between the Gunners and City this term, Pep Guardiola’s side may be unwilling to do business with their rivals.
