Man United have emerged as a shock option for Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane.
That’s according to a recent report from Sky Sports Germany (via The Mirror) who are claiming that the former Liverpool winger, following a falling out with teammate Leroy Sane, is a candidate to leave Germany at the end of the season.
The African’s altercation with Sane is believed to have included the pair exchanging some harsh words before punches were thrown, and consequently, Mane is now set to be axed by Bayern officials.
Man United eyeing shock Sadio Mane transfer
It has been a failed move for both Mane and Bayern Munich, with the 31-year-old failing to hit the heights that he managed during his time with Liverpool. Bayern paid an initial $35m for the forward’s signature last summer, but he has struggled throughout the season for regular playing time.
The Senegalese striker has scored just 12 goals across 37 matches in all competitions. A return to the Premier League could be on the cards, with Newcastle also among the potential suitors for the former Liverpool star.
Man United nearly signed the forward during Louis van Gaal’s time in charge. But, Mane ultimately opted for a move to Anfield, where he would later win the Premier League and Champions League.
