Arsenal are hoping that star defender William Saliba will sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium with his current contract only having 12 months left to run.
The 22-year-old French international has been a revelation for the Gunners this season after finally breaking into the team following his $33.5m move from Saint-Etienne.
William Saliba keen on staying at the Emirates Stadium
According to GOAL reporter Charles Watts, the Gunners are relaxed about the situation and hope Saliba will sign a deal once the current season has concluded.
The defender has proven himself to be one of the best defenders in the Premier League with Arteta’s side winning 78% of matches the Frenchman has taken part in, but having a win percentage of just 44% in matches without Saliba’s presence.
Spanish manager Mikel Arteta has hinted he wants Saliba to sign a new long-term contract to put off potential suitors when he said this week, “I think he (Saliba) has been incredible since he came back from his loan period and we want to reward him, that is for sure. We will find the right moment to do that.”
