Manchester City full-back Rico Lewis will be rewarded with a new contract after an impressive debut season in the Citizens’ first team.
Lewis, 18, has made 21 appearances for the Blues this season and has consistently been praised by manager Pep Guardiola, who has trusted the former City under-18 captain in the Champions League and key Premier League matches in City’s title run in.

And esteemed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted this morning that Lewis’ consistent performances will be rewarded with a new and improved contract very soon, keeping the youngster at the Etihad Stadium for the long term.

Lewis has played a number of roles at City this season, including right-back, left-back, and defensive midfield, and played the full 90 minutes in the Citizens’ 1-0 win against Chelsea on Sunday.
The teenager scored his first goal for the club against Sevilla in the Champions League earlier this season, becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer in a European competition.
