Versatile defender Joshua Wynder set for European move
Wynder, who can play as both a right-back and a center-back, captained his country’s national team at under-19 level and starred in his side’s victory over England.
Benfica already expects 6 ft 3in Wynder, to be on the outskirts of the first team, and to learn under experienced captain Nicolas Otamendi, who became a World Cup winner with Argentina this year.
Wynder became the USL Championship’s first player worth a seven-figure fee and one of the world’s most valuable center-backs born in 2005 with Benfica expected to splash out $1.2 million for the teenager, with a fee potentially rising to $1.8m in add-ons.
