Manchester United want to steal a march on Arsenal and Liverpool target Mason Mount and are prepared to splash out $68m on the Chelsea man.
Mount has only 12 months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and the 24-year-old is expected to leave the club this summer with Liverpool being the early frontrunners for the England international’s signature.
Red Devils boss Erik Ten Hag in the market for new midfielder
According to the Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel, United boss Erik Ten Hag wants a deal for Mount wrapped up quickly but it is believed that the Red Devils’ opening bid of $68m is set to be rebuffed with the Blues looking for a fee closer to $105m.
Incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly a big fan of Mount and would prefer the attacking midfielder sign a new contract with the Blues, but with Mount available on a free transfer next season, owner Todd Boehly will look to sell this summer and attempt to recoup some of the $750m he has already relaid on the squad since taking over the club last year.
