Mount has been out of action for Chelsea since early March with a pelvis injury and it is becoming increasingly likely that Mount has already played his last match in a blue shirt.
The 24-year-old was seen as an ideal candidate for Jurgen Klopp’s midfield rebuild this summer, but it is Erik Ten Hag’s side, who take on Mount’s Chelsea tonight in the Premier League, that have stolen a march in the race.
