Manchester United will need to break the British transfer record if they are to land Napoli star striker Victor Osimhen.
According to the Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, Napoli have slapped a whopping $173m price tag on the Nigerian, whose 23 league goals have helped propel Napoli to their first Scudetto championship since 1990.
Price set for Nigerian hitman Victor Osimhen
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is open to selling the Nigerian striker, who is not seen as indispensable as teammates Stanislav Lobotka and Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with the duo deemed not for sale at any price. And Osimhen could be joined at Old Trafford this summer by Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae, whose $50m release clause becomes active on 1 July.
A transfer fee for Osimhen would smash the current British record set by Enzo Fernandez’s transfer from Portuguese giants Benfica to Chelsea which cost Todd Boehly’s men around $132.5m earlier this year, still $40m below the asking price for Serie A’s top goalscorer.
