Manchester United’s chances of landing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-Jae have been handed a shot in the arm following the announcement head coach Luciano Spalletti will leave the Neapolitans when the Serie A season concludes at the weekend.
The pair have been key to Napoli’s successful Scudetto winning season, and according to Give Me Sport writer Amos Murphy, the duo worth around $188m could both be set to move to Old Trafford this summer.
Victor Osimhen and Kim Min Jae could leave Serie A champions this summer
It was announced last night by Napoli owner Aurelo De Laurentiis that head coach Spalletti will not be staying at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium past this summer. In a press conference on Sunday, De Laurentiis said, “Yes, Spalletti told me he’d prefer to take a sabbatical year, could I say no? He gave me a lot and I thank him. He came to me and said that he’s given his all, that a circle has been closed”.
According to Give Me Sport transfer expert Dean Jones, “The likes of Kim or Osimhen I’d say were the two most likely to be touted with a transfer on the back of Luciano Spalletti potentially moving and I’d say it becomes more doable if that’s the case.”
Central defender Kim Min-Jae’s $50m release clause becomes active on 1 July and Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino have also reported that United are willing to smash the British transfer record for Nigerian striker Osimhen.
