Tottenham Hotspur are set to beat Newcastle in the race to sign Leicester City’s creative midfielder James Maddison.
The 26-year-old suffered relegation with Leicester on Sunday and is seen as the club’s most valued asset that will need to be sold this summer with the Foxes set to lose $100m in television rights money next season.

And according to Football Insider, Tottenham are confident they can agree to a deal with Maddison to help lift the burden off star forward and England captain Harry Kane, who scored an incredible 30 league goals in a side that finished in a disappointing eighth.
Despite not being able to offer Maddison European football next season, Spurs hope to convince the England international that he will be a key member of a midfield that has desperately lacked creativity this season to unlock the best out of captain Kane and struggling South Korean forward Son Heung-Min, who has endured his worst season in England since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.
