Chelsea will look to sell Senegalese center-back Kalidou Koulibaly following his $40m transfer last summer.
Koulibaly, 31, was an eye-catching signing following his move from Serie A side Napoli and immediately took the iconic Chelsea number 26 shirt, last worn by club legend and former captain John Terry.
Chelsea planning escape route for Senegalese international
This season the experienced defender has failed to prove the form he showed in Italy, however, and new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is planning on offloading Koulibaly this summer, with fellow veteran defender Thiago Silva expected to stay at Stamford Bridge for one more season.
And according to the London Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella, the club are in a struggle to find a buyer for the African Cup of Nations winner, who is currently on an incredible $250,000 at Chelsea with still three years left to run on his contract.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Koulibaly is not willing to leave Chelsea after what has been a dismal season for the Blues, which included three permanent managers and ended in a very disappointing 12th-place finish, condemning the Blues to their worst league campaign since 1994.
