Newcastle United could be set to join the race to sign in-demand striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

The latest reports in Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed that the Magpies could step up their interest in the striker, and rival Manchester United for his signature.

Napoli’s crowning moment in Serie A will take place on Sunday, but they are already under increasing threat of losing their star man. The Italian side have stated that they are under no pressure to sell their top scorer, but a record-breaking fee could twist their arm.

Man United have been long-term admirers of the striker, but his $150 million asking price has dampened expectations. However, Newcastle could yet make a move for the striker, as they look to increase their options ahead of a Champions League campaign.

Osimhen was one of the standout stars in Serie A this term, as he netted an impressive 30 goals across 38 matches in all competitions. He is also currently the joint-highest scorer in the Italian flight with 25 goals.
