Real Madrid was left rocked over the weekend, as it was revealed that Karim Benzema would be leaving the club after 14 successful seasons with the Spanish giants.
Carlo Ancelotti revealed that he was ‘shocked’ that the Frenchman would be ending his legendary career in the Spanish capital, as the 35-year-old signed off his stay in Madrid with a goal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao.
Real Madrid interested in transfer move for Chelsea star
According to reports, Benzema has already agreed to a deal with Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad. Real Madrid have already established a number of strikers to replace the French international.
According to Bild, Real Madrid will step up their interest in a ‘mega-deal’ for Chelsea’s Kai Havertz this summer, while Harry Kane is also among their preferred options.
The Blues could be prepared to allow Havertz to depart the club this summer, but Mauricio Pochettino is likely to have the final say. The 23-year-old scored just seven goals in 35 Premier League outings last term.
