World Cup champion Angel Di Maria has officially announced he has left Juventus and is now a free agent.
In a statement posted on Instagram this afternoon, the 35-year-old said, “I have reached the end of a difficult and complicated stage, a very big salute to all Juve fans. I carry you in my heart”.

The race remains open for Di Maria’s signature, with former club and Liga NOS champions Benfica dreaming of re-signing the Argentine winger 13 years after he swapped the Portuguese capital Lisbon for Real Madrid.
However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Di Maria has several options, including clubs in Saudi Arabia, after completing just one full season at Juve.

And at the age of 35, the left-footed winger was still crucial in his country’s World Cup triumph last winter, scoring in the final against France following a devastating counter-attack.
