Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag wants to keep hold of central defender Victor Lindelof amid speculation the Swede is set to leave this summer.
Lindelof is seen as a key part of United’s immediate future by Ten Hag, who reportedly prefers seeking an exit strategy for club captain Harry Maguire instead.
Swedish central defender Victor Lindelof to stay at the club this summer
According to the German sports newspaper BILD, Eintracht Frankfurt were looking into a move for the Swede following the departures of fellow center-backs Evan Ndicka and Almamy Toure this summer.
Lindelof has mainly had to play second fiddle to Ten Hag’s first-choice pairing of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, who helped guide the Red Devils to a third-place Premier League finish this season.
Despite this, Lindelof will not be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, and the Swede is expected to be offered a new deal with his current contract expiring in just 12 months’ time.
