Newcastle appears to be at the front of the queue to sign Leicester City star James Maddison this summer.
The 26-year-old will almost certainly leave the King Power Stadium following the club’s relegation to the second tier, and Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur have been his most likely destinations.
Newcastle leading Spurs in race for Maddison
However, the latest reports from Sky Sports have claimed that the Magpies are leading the race to sign the attacking midfielder. Maddison is among the key players that Eddie Howe has targeted this summer, as he prepares his team for Champions League soccer next season.
Despite a poor season for Leicester, Maddison was a standout star throughout the campaign. The England international scored ten goals and registered nine assists in 30 Premier League outings.
Newcastle will be looking to cut a deal with the Foxes, as the Magpies consider Leicester’s price to be too high at this stage.
