Newcastle United could be set to make their first signing of the summer transfer window, as they are reportedly preparing a bid for Wolfsburg midfielder Felix Nmecha.
The 22-year-old looks set to depart the Bundesliga club this summer, and the Magpies could get their man for a fee of $15 million, according to The Telegraph.
Newcastle hopeful of Nmecha deal
Newcastle have been long-term admirers of Nmecha, and the Wolfsburg man could offer something different in the middle of the park. The 22-year-old began his career with Premier League side Manchester City, but failed to make a single Premier League appearance.
The German international did feature in the Champions League in 2020-21, before he was released by Pep Guardiola’s side. However, he has resurrected his career in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg since signing on a free transfer.
The midfielder played 30 times in the German top-flight last season, scoring three goals and registering five assists. His performances caught the eye of Germany boss Hansi Flick, as he was called up for the first time in March 2023.
