Ex USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter is reportedly in talks to take over as the new head coach of Mexican side Club America.
The Mexico City-based outfit has been without a head coach since the departure of former Boca Juniors player Fernando Ortiz last month following the club’s Clausura semi-final defeat on aggregate to rivals Chivas Guadalajara.
Gregg Berhalter set for top Mexican job
Club America is one of the most renowned clubs in Central America and is the only club never to be relegated from the Mexican top flight. According to journalist Gibran Araige reporting on the Mexican news outlet TUDN, Berhalter is not only seen as Club America’s first choice but that contact has also been made with the former USMNT manager to take over with immediate effect.

The decision is now reportedly up to Berhalter a week after he received ringing endorsements from former players such as Christian Pulisic and Timothy Weah to return as the next permanent USMNT head coach.
