Brighton and Hove Albion have confirmed the signing of Liverpool midfielder and vice-captain James Milner on a free transfer.
The 37-year-old has spent an astonishing 21 years at the highest level of English football and last season became the Premier League’s third-highest all-time appearance holder, behind his former Manchester City teammate Gareth Barry and ex-Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.
New challenge for veteran Milner
The announcement was confirmed today via the Seaguls’ official Social Media platforms and will see the Premier League winner join on a 12-month contract, with the option of a further year.

Since his arrival back in 2015, Milner has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s on-field lieutenants at Anfield, performing consistently as a central midfielder, a winger, and at full-back on either flank.
And it is likely to be that versatility that has convinced Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi to offer Milner the chance to join the Europa League qualifiers this summer, with the Italian demanding that many in his squad have the same ability to play in a number of different positions.
