Liverpool central midfielder Thiago Alcantara is expected to leave the club when his contract comes to an end in the summer of 2024.
By that time, the Spanish international will be 33, and with manager Jurgen Klopp demanding his midfielders be at the peak of their physical demands to implement his gegenpress, Thiago is deemed too old to have a real impact at Anfield for much longer.
Thiago set for Liverpool exit next summer
According to The Athletic’s Liverpool-based reporter James Pearce, Jurgen Klopp will look to rely on 18-year-old Stefan Bajcetic, the in-form Curtis Jones, Fabinho as well as new signing Alexis Mac Allister and another two potential signings with the German comprising a five-man shortlist to strengthen the weakest part of his side.
French pair Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone remain targets for Klopp, as well as the impressive Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.
