Newcastle United have made contact with the representatives of Rennes teenager Desire Doue over a potential move.

The Magpies are looking to add two midfielders to their squad this summer, and they are growing close to agreeing on a deal with Italian star Nicolo Barella.

Newcastle have stepped up their summer transfer plans over the past couple of days, and they have reportedly made contact with representatives of Doue, according to iNews.

Rennes appear willing to cash in on their 18-year-old star, but the Magpies could face competition to complete the deal, with both PSG and Barcelona also monitoring his situation.

The midfielder enjoyed a breakout campaign in France last season, as he played 26 times in Ligue 1, scoring three times. He also has previous experience in European competition, having played seven times in the Europa League for Rennes.

It is reported that the French club would be willing to listen to offers in the region of $15 million for their star teenager this summer.
