Manchester City have announced that Ilkay Gundogan is set to be released this summer opening the door to a move to Barcelona.
The 32-year-old has won all there is to in with the Cityzens, captaining a team that won a historic treble last season in what seems destined to be his final campaign with the club following his 2016 transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

Gundogan is set to swap the champions of England for the champions of Spain, according to The Athletic’s Pol Ballus, who writes that the Catalans’ have stepped up their pursuit of the German goalscoring midfielder.
Barcelona have now reportedly offered Gundogan an improved three-year deal and is a top priority now for manager Xavi Hernandez after missing out on Lionel Messi, who is bound for MLS side Inter Miami instead.
The La Liga champions were expected to receive an answer on the offer from Gundogan this week, following City’s Champions League final win over Inter Milan, but one did not arrive as his contract at City runs out in just 13 days time.
