Arsenal target Kai Havertz has informed his club Chelsea he will refuse any offer of a new contract to stay at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old is believed to want the move to the North Londoners with Chelsea not being able to offer the German European football next term following a dismal campaign that saw them end the season in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Kai Havertz wants Gunners move
According to ESPN writer James Olley, Havertz’s decision has put the Blues under pressure to drop their asking price. Arsenal have so far been reluctant to meet Chelsea’s $90m valuation for Chelsea’s number 29 after having an opening bid rejected last week but are expected to return with an improved offer.
Havertz has been identified as being able to operate as a number 10 or as a number 8 for Arsenal according to ESPN with Mikel Arteta unlikely to deviate from the 4-2-3-1 formation that served the Gunners so well for most of last season before a disappointing end to the campaign.
