Arsenal are close to completing the $82m transfer of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz as Mikel Arteta looks to make a statement of intent this summer.

And after just finishing five points behind eventual winners Manchester City last season, Gunners boss Arteta is determined to close the gap even further and the signing of Kai Havertz is certainly a good starting point to do exactly that.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the clubs are now finalizing details on how the transfer fee will be structured, including potential installments and add-ons.

As reported yesterday, the 24-year-old is keen on swapping Chelsea for their North London rivals and has informed the Blues he will not sign another contract to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Havertz played 79 minutes in Germany’s 2-0 shock home defeat to Colombia yesterday and is now thought to be able to concentrate on his long-term future following three matches for Die Mannschaft in just eight days.
