Manchester City have agreed a fee with Chelsea for Mateo Kovacic worth a total of $38m.
The 29-year-old ended the season well, performing admirably in Croatia’s two Nations League finals matches which saw them miss out on winning the trophy after a penalty shootout defeat to the hands of Spain in Rotterdam on Sunday.
Mateo Kovacic will join Man City in next few days
Kovacic is believed to be ecstatic to be working with Pep Guardiola after a poor season with Chelsea which saw them finish 12th, an astonishing 27 points outside of the Champions League places.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, City will pay an initial figure of $31.5m for the Blues number eight after agreeing personal terms with Kovacic two weeks ago. The remaining figure of around $6.5m will be included in add-ons activated only if City go on to win further titles during Kovacic’s time at the club.
