Newcastle United are exploring a deal to bring Joachim Anderson to St James’ Park. Eddie Howe is a fan of the central defender, but any potential deal could hinge on the Eagles lowering their asking price.

Andersen has been a standout performer for the Eagles since joining the club from Lyon in 2021, but Crystal Palace will be looking to at least double the fee of $20 million that they paid to bring the defender to the Premier League.

The Eagles are under no pressure to sell their star defender, according to the Daily Mail, as the Danish international still has three years remaining on his five-year deal at Selhurst Park.

Andersen played 32 times in the Premier League in 2022-23, and formed a formidable partnership with England international Marc Guehi. His only goal was scored against Manchester City in August.

His ability to play out from the back is a key trait that all top clubs have been impressed by, and Newcastle will be looking to strengthen their options in the central defender position ahead of their upcoming campaign in the Champions League.
