Champions League qualifiers Newcastle have discussed the possibility of signing Ruben Neves on a loan deal following his transfer to the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.
Despite the transfer not even being confirmed yet by either Wolves or Al Hilal, Eddie Howe’s men are plotting an instant return to the Premier League for the 26-year-old according to Football Insider.
Newcastle set to swoop for Ruben Neves
Al Hilal have recently been taken over by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PiF), which also owns an 80 percent stake in Newcastle.
The Saudi PiF led the consortium that bought out the Magpies for $390m in 2021 and on Monday, PiF announced that it will take control of Saudi Arabia’s biggest four clubs: Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, Al Nassr, and Al Hilal.
Neves will become the latest high-profile player to move to the Pro League, following in the footsteps of international Portuguese teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who won his 200th cap for Roberto Martinez’s men against Iceland on Tuesday.
